Abbey Closson - 2nd Runner-Up
1.If you could make one rule that everyone in the world had to follow, what would it be?
I have to be the first (and hopefully only) person in history to trip over their own shoelaces and actually break their forehead. That was in the first grade....I am still quite clumsy today! I have learned to laugh at myself and to get "right back up again."
2.If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
My best childhood friend was my cousin, Brandi, I did not realize until I was much older that Brandi had Down Syndrome. My relationship with her taught me that how we are different is meaningless...how we are alike means everything! I am going to become a special education teacher because of Brandi.
3.When do you feel a child or teen becomes an adult?
My family has influenced me in so many ways! Through their daily walks, they have shown be that respect is critical. In order to gain the respect of others, we must first respect ourselves enough to do what is right. When we lead by a positive example, we will earn respect.
4.What do you feel you have learned in life that will be the most useful?
I do not eat birthday cake. Instead, I have a watermelon...complete with candles! I am kind enough to have a cake for all of my friends to share, but I can be found with the sweet deliciousness of watermelon juice dripping from my fingers.
5.What do you feel is the hardest job in the world and why?
My friends have always called me the "mother duck." I am the girl who reminds everyone else to do what is right. Being a person of integrity is one of my daily goals and I hope to influence others not by my words, but by my actions.
