Shakainah Pompier Arrindell
1.If you could make one rule that everyone in the world had to follow, what would it be?
I’m from the island of St. Maarten. After the devastation caused by Hurricane Irma, I moved to North Carolina for school. In North Carolina, I met welcoming people and experienced new things. For that I'm forever grateful. So, North Carolina would be where I would like to live one day.
2.If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
Traveling with my family is always funny! Within five minutes of boarding the airplane, I know my aunt will fall asleep with her mouth wide open. It’s also hilarious my siblings fight over who gets to sit next to our Mom.
3.When do you feel a child or teen becomes an adult?
By building a youth wing of the St. Maarten Alzheimer’s Foundation, my objective is to bring awareness and education of Alzheimer’s to my peers. My grandmother is in the advanced stages of this terminal illness, and through this foundation we can support one another as our loved ones’ battle Alzheimer’s.
4.What do you feel you have learned in life that will be the most useful?
Beauty is defined as qualities that pleases the aesthetic senses. In my viewpoint, beauty should not be judged by the outside appearance, but from within. In the end, your personality and character, with attributes like loyalty, intelligence, compassion and humbleness; will carry you further in life.
